The Porthole Murder - Dr Paul Stickler

Dr Paul Stickler is a retired UK police officer and an expert in British historical murder investigations. A graduate of the prestigious FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia, Paul holds degrees in history, social sciences and criminology, as well as a PhD in law and history from the University of Essex.

In 1947, 21-year-old Miss Gay Gibson disappeared on a ship bound for Southampton from Cape Town. This presentation follows the life and last known movements of the victim and explores the account provided by the man tried for her murder and his extraordinary behaviour in apparently throwing her body through a cabin porthole. The trial of the first-class deck steward has a fascinating aftermath and the presentation includes information not previously revealed in the public domain.
