The pursuit and sinking of the Bismarck.
This is one of the enduring stories of World War 2. More than one hundred British warships were involved in the five day, 1750 miles hunt. The British battlecruiser, HMS Hood, was sunk within ten minutes of engaging Bismarck which then disappeared for more than 24 hours. She was almost in reach of safety when the British won the day. David's father was a crewman aboard HMS Dorsetshire which was involved in the final battle.
